First graders learned different kinds of adjectives and how they change in Spanish according to the gender of the person they describe. To help reinforce these concepts we read Platero y Yo by Juan Ramon Jimenez, a famous Spanish writer. Then, they were challenged to describe Platero, who is a sweet donkey and the writer’s best friend. The students loved the story. Finally, they drew Platero using phrases such as: suave como el algodon (soft like the cotton), dulce como la miel (sweet like the honey), etc. Great job first graders!!!
