Project FeederWatch
Posted by Mary CurranStudent volunteers braved cold temperatures in January to count birds at the Unquowa bird feeding station. This marks the eighth year that The Unquowa School has participated in Project FeederWatch, a winter long survey of birds conducted by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Binoculars, field guides and tally sheets are provided to assist students in the identification and documentation of bird sightings. In the months of November, December and January, students identified nine species of birds including American goldfinches, white-breasted nuthatches, black-capped chickadees and dark-eyed juncos.
