Rhythms and Partner Songs
Posted by Megan KirkStudents in first grade music are working on finding rhythms in our everyday speech! We started with ‘playing’ our names by hitting the drums for each syllable. We then made up short sentences which we played on the drum. This sense of rhythm is a very important skill to develop as a base for improvising! We then learned “A Sailor Went to Sea” and “Ce Ce Oh Playmate” which are two partner songs. Students had to use their rhythmic skills to both sing and do hand movements at the same time!
