Searching for Signs of Spring
Posted by Maureen DialloOn Friday afternoon the first graders traveled to the Fairfield Audubon Center to search for signs of spring. With clipboards and magnifying glasses in hand, the class braved the cold weather and slippery trails looking for clues that soon spring will be here. Even though the temperature and blanketing snow look much like winter, we were able to see some budding trees, sprouting skunk cabbage and various birds collecting supplies for their spring nests. The class also planted some sunflower seeds and built their own birds nests using mud, pine needles, sticks and scraps of yarn. Spring is on its way!
