After reading two historical fiction novels, Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse and For Freedom by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley, seventh grade students wrote their own fictional pieces inspired by a time in history. There are a wide range of topics students have selected that include The Hundred Years’ War, The Battle of Iwo Jima, The Challenger, 9/11, and the war against terrorism. Students researched, planned, and composed their stories, and they look fantastic! Ask seventh grade students to tell you about their stories.
