Posted by Jacqui MudreOur fundraising project is called Hurricane Help! We — Rex, Luna, Aleksandra, Oola, and Sierra — had all been worried about the people who lived in areas being hit by the hurricanes, and decided we wanted to help in some way. We figured the best way to do that would be to raise money and donate it to the American Red Cross. At first we thought about asking for donations directly, but worried that wouldn’t be a good enough incentive for people to give us their money. So, we decided we would make and sell bracelets and beaded stars that were themed after the cause, and all the money would go to the American Red Cross. Along with that, we set up a GoFundMe page.
Our fundraising sales started at Unquowa during our Wednesday assemblies. We also set up outside Harborview Market during a busy day, and sold our bracelets there. In total we collected and donated over $700 to the American Red Cross, all which went to helping victims of the hurricanes.
