Testing Human Abilities with Robotics!
Posted by Lloyd MitchellFifth grade has been working with the Lego WeDo robotics to explore basic visual-based programming. We began by discussing how the human leg works and all the components that make the human foot kick a soccer ball. Students then built a simple robotic “foot” and ran some experiments with kicking a plastic ball and a paper ball on two different surfaces. In exploring this, the students discovered that certain surfaces created more friction than others, and that less friction meant further distances. Their results allowed them to create graphs of the expected outcomes vs. actual outcomes. They were surprised to see how the results turned out!
