The Giving of Flower Circles
Posted by Krissy PondenTo begin our study of mandalas and radial art the eighth grade created beautiful danmalas, which loosely translates from sanskrit into “the giving of flower circles.” Using flowers culled from various sources including our own Unquowa garden, the students deconstructed and then reconstructed delicate patterns of color, texture, and ephemerality. Mandalas represent unity and balance; they have been used by many cultures as tools for mindfulness and inner peace. Looking at our students’ works will definitely bring a sense of calm and happiness to your day!
