Tomato Investigation
Posted by Mary CurranThird and fourth graders investigated two varieties of tomatoes from the Unquowa Garden. Sungold is a small yellow-orange tomato known for its sugar sweet taste. Purple bumblebee is a purple-red streaked heirloom with a slightly tangier taste. Both varieties were started from seed by Mrs. Faulkner’s fifth graders last spring. Students enjoyed comparing and recording the size, shape, color, taste and texture of each tomato. Since returning to school in September, Unquowa students have been busy harvesting and sampling these delicious varieties at lunch!
