United Nations and King Tut
Posted by Debbie LeidleinOn October 19th the sixth, seventh and eighth grade visited the United Nations and the King Tut Exhibit in NYC. For the eighth grade the visit to the United Nations was a culminating event of their research regarding the history and activities of this international organization. Earlier in the year the eighth grade reviewed how to find credible sources, organizing information into an outline and writing a research paper using the six traits of writing used in writing across the curriculum. Students were able to see first hand the building in which the Ambassadors to the United Nations meet and to hear about some of the humanitarian efforts they are undertaking in an effort to achieve their Millennium Development Goals. The visit to the King Tut exhibit reminded students of their study in the sixth grade of ancient Egypt and they enjoyed viewing artifacts from this time period.
