Unquowa Heraldry
Posted by Alice DesGrangesThe artwork decorating our “castle” during Winterfest included tooled metal knights. The fourth grade class learned about the symbols used in medieval heraldry and about the intricate designs skillfully carved into suits of armor. The class carefully carved their own metal knights and antiqued them with India ink. The knights were then mounted on shields which included each student’s personally designed coat of arms.
