What’s Been Happening in the Art Room?
Posted by Krissy PondenVisual arts projects typically begin with an in-depth exploration of essential questions and historical/contemporary context before students begin studio time. Sixth graders have been considering how shapes and colors can represent aspects of their personality as well as whether they are the same person on the inside as they present to the world on the outside. Seventh graders looked into how art and math are related and why and how artists would choose to use technological processes to create artwork. Eighth graders researched how radial balance has been used by many different cultures throughout history and why such symmetry is seen as spiritually significant.
Now that the students have a solid foundation of information, they have begun to create projects utilizing this knowledge and context. Check out their progress, and stay tuned for their finished work to be displayed at school!
