When You Think About Seuss!
Posted by Faith BarbutoWhy celebrate Dr. Seuss just on his birthday, when you can spend a whole month immersed in the world of Seuss? Kindergarten did just that, reading almost all of his stories and writing some of our own. Students tried on their own striped thinking caps to rewrite some of Seuss’s most classic tales. Rhymes flowed freely as did wacky fun! Literacy met with art when creating our own Seuss-like creatures! Modelling clay, feathers, pipe cleaners and googly eyes were transformed into figments of our own imaginations. Many of the students were able to read some of the beginner books and all had fun with his wacky rhymes. We delved deeper into some of the longer books, uncovering the lessons Dr. Seuss hoped to impart. Everyone got their hands deep into Oobleck to try to discern if this matter was liquid or solid. Last but not least we feasted on green eggs and ham! We can’t wait to see some of our favorite characters brought to life in the upcoming spring musical.
