WOW – It’s a Greenhouse!
Posted by Kate Haviland
The steel frame for the new bumped out greenhouse in the science lab arrived this morning and was put into place with the help of a crane. The work site is buzzing with builders, plumbers and electricians! New walls are going up and electrical wiring and plumbing are going in.
By taking down walls and reconfiguring the existing space both the lab and the fifth grade classroom are now significantly bigger. The new science lab will give our students and teachers more storage space for long term projects, improved lab stations, multiple teaching tanks, and the opportunity for expanded studies in all areas of scientific inquiry. The enlarged fifth grade classroom next door will provide much needed space to support the interdisciplinary, collaborative and experience-based curriculum for students during their first year in the Upper School. In addition, the installation of new fire sprinklers on this side of the school is going smoothly and is on schedule.
It is only because of the hard work and generous gifts from so many people in the Unquowa community that these improvements for our children are happening now. To every alum, parent, grandparent, corporate partner, former parent, faculty member and foundation who have made a commitment…thank you!
