Native Americans Around Unquowa
Posted by Janice ShannonIn PreK-3, we always study Native Americans during this time of year. Did you know that the Native Americans who lived in our area ate mostly fish? They would walk all the way down to the beach and catch fish (sometimes with their bare hands) and then bring them back to the squaw to cook and eat. We filled our water table and added goldfish so we could try it in the classroom but ended up taking the fish home in a nice bowl to keep as pets. We also examined a fat porgy fish and watched a lobster crawl around our table – local fish that Native Americans ate.
