City Lights
Posted by Janice ShannonFirst, we studied the evergreen tree with Ms. Colleen from the Audubon in Fairfield. She talked to the students about different types of evergreens and the reasons why these trees don’t “shed” in the fall like other types of trees. We then drew our own trees the size of our bodies, painted them and decorated the top with the real evergreen branches. Later in the week, we took a field experience with our families to NYC on an evening train to see the biggest decorated evergreen tree in New England. We made our way to Rockefeller Center by way of 5th avenue – all the city lights were bright and we found lots of windows that were rectangles, squares and triangles along the way. What a joy to see those faces light up as we turned the corner to see that magnificent tree!
