Alabama Gal
Posted by Megan KirkSecond graders did an awesome job with their performance of the “Alabama Gal” at wednesday morning’s assembly. “Alabama Gal” is a version of the folk dance, the “Virginia Reel,” that dates back to the 17th century. The students learned the song “Alabama Gal” in their music class, and then put it together with the dance in their movement class! The students absolutely love dancing this dance! We learned about who in history might have danced this dance and how it is so amazing that the dance has been passed down from generation to generation so that we can perform it today! Students also loved practicing this dance outside where they had lots of freedom to move and dance in the fresh air!
