Alumni News: Derek Leebaert ’64
Posted by Beatrice DeGrandDerek Leebaert ’64 published his latest book in March, Unlikely Heroes: Franklin Roosevelt, His Four Lieutenants, and the World They Made (St. Martin’s Press, 2023). It’s an entirely new understanding of FDR, and of his presidency, which the Wall Street Journal reviewed as “propulsive.” Derek won the biennial 2020 Harry S. Truman Book award for his last one, Grand Improvisation: America Confronts the British Superpower 1945-1957 (FSG 2018). He lives in Washington, D.C. and has a day job as a management consultant.
