Chinese Brush Painting
Posted by Alice DesGrangesFirst grade is learning one of the oldest continuous artistic traditions in the world, Chinese Brush painting. Paintings can be monochrome or colored and typically depict animals, birds, flowers, or scenes from nature. First grade learned how pressure on the tip and side of brushes creates different results. We started by learning how to paint bamboo and moved on to cherry blossoms. Students will have the opportunity to try their new skills on Xuan or rice paper which dates back over 1,000 years!
