Creating a Rangoli for Diwali
Posted by Krissy PondenIn honor of the Hindu festival of Diwali, which started on October 30th but extends for the following five days, eighth graders worked together to create a chalk rangoli in our corral. Diwali is the festival of lights, and one of the ways to celebrate is with the creation of elaborate patterns called rangolis made out of colored sand, rice, or dried flower petals. These designs are typically made on the floor in courtyards, lighted with candles, and thought to bring good luck.
