Making Observations in the Garden
Posted by Mary CurranDid you know that string beans could be not only green, but also yellow and purple? Kindergartners learned this the first week of school as they explored the garden and discovered a variety of late summer and fall vegetables. They enjoyed smelling lavender, mint and lemon balm by gently rubbing their fingers across the leaves and used magnifying glasses to make close observations of a black swallowtail caterpillar munching on the parsley. Kindergartners picked sungold tomatoes to snack on and delivered a bowl of royal burgundy, yellow wax and green beans to Chef David and Chef Tom for the salad bar.
