Sweet Beats!!
Posted by Megan KirkPreK-4 students have been working all year on their “Sweet Beats.” The song we sing in 4/4 time gives students the chance to improvise 4 beats of music using different food names for example, beet is for a quarter note, cherry for two eighth notes, and avocado for four sixteenth notes – students are creating measures of music in 4/4 time without even realizing it! Today we put symbols to two of our words, beet and cherry. Using popsicle sticks we created a measure of music using quarter and eighth notes (beets and cherries). This is just the beginning of students starting to write and understand music theory.
