White Soccer Loses a Nailbiter!
Posted by Lloyd MitchellWhite soccer kicked off the 2013 campaign on the road in Greenwich against the Stanwich School. Fresh off of several practices working on tactical plays and set pieces, the team came out hungry for a victory. The first half was full of close calls and near misses with the Unquowa squad. Solid defense in the back kept the Stanwich squad out of our half but one ball slipped through and Stanwich took a 1-0 lead into the half.
Second half, the tables turned and a quick rocket by eighth grader Jackson tied up the game. The offense see-sawed back and forth through the rest of the second half, with more close calls. Stanwich managed to squeak a second goal past our defense with only a few minutes remaining and take a 2-1 lead. With the pressing offense in the final minutes, we came up short and the score ended 2-1. Congratulations to the team for a great first game and a sign of competitive games to come!
