Whose Line Is It Anyway?
Posted by Alyson Cahill“Yes, And…” “Hitchhiker.” “Jibberish Interpreters.” “World’s Worst.” “Conduct A Story.” These are just a few of the games Upper School improv students have been playing when we meet each Friday after school to learn improvisational acting, which is in full swing this fall! Our young actors are building their skills by learning the basic concepts of improv: acceptance, listening, and working as a team. The most basic definition of improv is acting without a script, however, it is a much more challenging concept for actors of all ages to grasp. By performing as a cohesive group, and not trying to simply be funny all by yourself, students learn ensemble-based technique in its purest form. Having a blast while doing so makes it all the more enjoyable!
