3 Little Pigs and Wolf Stew, too!
Posted by Faith Barbuto
It was the end of our three pigs unit and we practiced some sequencing of the story and made an AAAB pattern for math. We made puppets for our story and used our new skills of facial expression to show both a happy pig and a scared pig! We also used making the wolf puppets as a time to talk about things that scare us, we will be talking about fears and how to soothe them next month. We read many versions of the story and this week looked at the Wolf’s side of the story. The “homework” this week is to perform a puppet show for our family! Please let them amaze you with how much they have learned! Of course the highlight of our week was making and eating wolf stew. Everyone loved helping chop up the vegetables, thankfully I had already chopped up the wolf but some brave students did touch it. It’s actually smoked ham hocks – the most gruesome bones I could find at Stop and Shop which sadly doesn’t sell chopped up wolves. We also had a smell test where we tried to decipher which other ingredients would be added to the soup using only our noses. Finally, we got to taste our wolf stew and it was yummy!
