Chinese Picture Dictionary
Posted by Teresa HsiaoThree months into learning Chinese, the kindergarten students been building a reservoir of Chinese characters they know. To celebrate their accomplishment while re-enforcing the concept that the written Chinese language is pictographs, everyone had a chance to begin creating their own picture dictionary in Chinese! All students selected the words they wanted to incorporate in their dictionary (after demonstrating to their teacher that they can recognize and pronounce the characters) and had to draw a picture to help everyone understanding the meaning of the characters. The students took complete ownership of their learning while having fun exercising their imagination and creativity!
