Igneous Investigation
Posted by Maureen DialloAs part of our month long study on rocks and minerals the first grade scientists observed and compared two types of igneous rocks: granite and pumice. They learned about extrusive versus intrusive igneous rocks and recorded observations that focused on color, texture, luster and weight. They also tested the rocks to see if they would sink or float and found out that pumice is a rock that can float! Amazing!
