Visiting Sport Hill Farm
Posted by Bobby BrennanPatty Pop gave the third and fourth graders a tour of Sport Hill Farm this week. They learned how difficult it is to farm in Connecticut. For example, the fluctuation of the temperature and the recent freeze made it impossible for any peaches to grow in our state this year. Patty Pop also lost crops and was forced to replant; unfortunately this means many of her plants won’t be ready of the upcoming farmer’s market. Farming is hard work! The students got to experience this first hand when they transplanted some chard plants. As a bonus, they got to feed the chickens and see the aromatic pigs with their new piglets.
