White Varsity Earns Their Toughest Victory Yet!
Posted by Lloyd MitchellWhite Varsity faced off against cross town rival Fairfield Country Day for their second matchup of the season. Entering the game, the team was riding a three game winning streak and looking to add to it. The game began with an early seesaw with the ball going back and forth, but neither team able to get one in the net. As the half was nearing an end, FCDS snuck in a chip shot that just beat eighth grader Derek and gave FCDS a 1-0 advantage. Within one minute, the Unquowa squad struck back and evened the score at 1-1.
After a quick half-time pep talk, the team responded early in the second half with another strike on a perfectly set play to eighth grader Austin for his second goal of the game and a 2-1 advantage. Several missed opportunities later in the half kept us from getting further on the board. FCDS kept the pressure up for the rest of the half and nearly tied it on a few opportunities including an empty net that just went wide. The game ended 2-1 in our favor and we improve our record to 4-1. We look forward to our next matchup against King next week!
