First Month in the Art Room!
Posted by Krissy PondenOur Upper School students have been busy working on exciting projects this first month in visual arts! Fifth graders have been exploring identity, perceptions, and bias through a self-portrait project inspired by contemporary artist, Kehinde Wiley. Sixth grade is learning about the emotional connections we make between colors and shapes and using that to draw abstract self-portraits of their inner and outer selves. Seventh graders jumped right into a collaborative technology/math/design project and are creating geometric solids with laser cut embellishments and optical illusions. Finally, eighth grade is learning about the ubiquitousness of radial balance in different cultures and are printing their own examples.
