It’s All Fun and Games…

Recently our fourth graders enjoyed a Board Game Day in the classroom. Students brought in favorite classic board games such as The Game of Life, Chess and Monopoly and also a few newer games of skill and strategy. Students delighted in the fun of playing together with friends cheering and groaning as the games progressed. Although the day may have appeared to be all fun and games, there are numerous benefits to exposing our children to board games. These benefits include encouraging strategic and critical thinking, enhancing reflexes, developing positive social relationships, building confidence and self esteem and promoting cognitive processes. So perhaps, all this fun comes with a purpose…
