White Soccer Avenges First Loss of the Season!
Posted by Lloyd MitchellThe white varsity soccer team faced off against a feisty squad from the Stanwich School – the same team they played in the first game of the season which ended as a close 2-1 loss. It was clear from the start of the game that the team was hungry for a victory on their home turf. Unquowa tallied a quick goal in the first three minutes of the game to go up 1-0. Stanwich battled back and beat eighth grader Patrick on a quick shot to even the score. The white squad then went on a run and rattled off two more goals before the half to take a 3-1 lead into the second half.
After a encouraging pep talk from Coach Rasti, the team responded with another quick goal and built a sizable lead. As with all teams that get a sizable lead, so comes comfort of not pushing forward and letting your guard down. Stanwich took advantage of this and pressed our defense and added two goals to close the lead to 4-3. We struck back and added another goal while Stanwich countered. With only three minutes in the game, we tallied a final goal to put the game out of reach and secured the 6-4 victory. Congratulations to the white varsity for an undefeated home record!
