K and Grade 4 Tag Horseshoe Crabs
Posted by Karen EngelkeKindergarten and Grade 4 traveled together to the beach in Southport to tag horseshoe crabs with students from the Project Limulus program. Project Limulus, based at Sacred Heart University, was created in response to Long Island Sound’s declining horseshoe crab population. Unquowa students did some studying of their own on the horseshoe crab before the experience. Project Limulus students furthered their education about these living fossils, highlighting horseshoe crabs’ importance to the ecosystem and human health.
