Girls Green Starts Season with Two Straight Wins
Posted by Marybeth LaneOn Monday the fifth and sixth grade girls played Greenwich Catholic Country Day School on Gator turf winning 20-10. The girls played hard all four periods. Greenwich Catholic played a tough game too, they just couldn’t out score the Gators. We were making 1 out of 5 shots, but we still took more shots than Greenwich Catholic. That helped us clinch the lead early.
Then on Tuesday the girls green team played home again. It was another low scoring game, but exciting nonetheless. The girls on average took over 100 shots on the basket. But the ball just didn’t seem to want to go in for either team. However, Lisi’s three point shot in the third period secured our lead. There were some more exciting plays to watch when Grace stole the ball and dribbled down the court fast for a lay-up. Charlotte did a wonderful job in the point guard position really helping the girls move the ball around and make smart passes. The final score was 11-8.
Overall, the Gators look organized and played well both defensively and offensively. Our next game is tomorrow at St. Luke’s in New Canaan.
