¿Cómo estás? ¿Qué te pasa?

Just a normal everyday question brought to life, that’s all. Every day I ask students how they are doing and that won’t ever change and why should it? That being said, I think it’s important for students to expand their options, so that they don’t retreat to the comfortable answers: I’m doing well. I’m doing okay. I’m not doing well. After all, these three options, although an understandable starting point for language learners, don’t offer much student expression. Student actors mimed over fifteen different emotions/sensations as their classmates guessed how they were feeling and I captured the raw emotion in photographs. Student teams were then given a complete set of photos from the activity and charged with creating a poster. The only requirements: all photos must be used on the poster and captioned accurately in Spanish. I can’t wait to see the finished posters from the student teams!
