Days Three and Four at Woodloch
Posted by Debbie LeidleinDay three started out with the power being back and hot showers! Yea! After breakfast we broke into two groups with one group doing to the Escape Room and the other group going to ride the bumper cars and to take the boats out for a spin around Lake Teedyuskung. After the students were reunited, they were given some free time during which they opted to go and ride the go carts. We all regrouped for lunch and then went to change for the pool. The second group was able to experience the Escape Room in the afternoon, and while neither group escaped, they all agreed it was great fun! The students who wanted to ride the boats on the lake in the afternoon were able to and we also took the bumper boats out for a spin. Our pre-dinner activity was a chopped competition. Students were divided into teams and were given some basic baking ingredients along with their mystery ingredients which included bacon, brie cheese, chocolate chips, fruit cocktail, honey, maple syrup and bananas. Mr. Sef and Mrs. Leidlein were the judges. We were very impressed with the creativity of the students and their ability to come up with and execute some very complex dishes. After dessert, we went to dinner! Students could not wait to get to the beach volleyball court for our nightly game of Unquowa volleyball, which we played until we couldn’t see the ball. Then, it was up to the lodge for an evening of karaoke. What a talented group of students. Talents abounded in the areas of singing and backup dancing and we didn’t want to leave when the night was over. We returned to the houses to pack and finish out the movie they had started the night before. It was another late night before we were all tucked in bed and the tears started to flow as they started to become sentimental about the end of the trip and the end of their 8th grade year. In the morning they quickly finished packing, went to breakfast, and, yep, you guessed it, squeezed in one last game of Unquowa beach volleyball. Then it was on the bus to come home. In the words of many students –“That was the best trip I’ve ever been on!” Who needs electricity?
