Garden Discoveries
Posted by Mary CurranKindergartners explored the garden the first week of school and discovered a variety of late summer and fall vegetables. They used magnifying glasses to make close observations of black swallowtail caterpillars munching on parsley and carrot tops and collected nine of these beautiful specimens to bring back to the classroom. Many of the caterpillars have already formed chrysalises! Before leaving the garden, kindergartners harvested sungold tomatoes, cucumbers, and green, purple, and yellow wax beans to sample for their afternoon snack.
