Learning About Non-Deciduous Trees
Posted by Janice ShannonA speaker from the Fairfield Audubon came and spoke to our class about trees that do not shed their leaves annually. We took a tour of our campus and found trees and shrubs that were still green and had a wonderful scent. We looked at about four different kinds of trees and sorted the branches. We discussed the needles, how some are long some short, and the little pine cones on the branches. The interesting part came when we laid on a big piece of white paper and created a life-size tree of ourselves. We used branches from a white pine tree to “slap” green paint all over papers. The bark was created out of torn brown construction paper. How do you like them?
