No Bones About It…First Grade Loves Science!
Posted by Maureen DialloUnquowa first grade scientists are off to a great start! During the first science unit, “Ourselves”, the first graders have been learning lots of exciting things about the human body. They discussed that if they didn’t have a skeleton to support their body they would be a giant blob, kind of like a jelly fish! They learned that the skeleton helps to give a body shape and stability and provides protection to body organs like the heart, lungs, and the brain! First grade students talked about the importance of taking care of their bones by eating healthy and wearing protective helmets and gear when riding their bikes. They designed their own models of a skeleton using Q-tips and even got to take a look at some real x-rays of bones!
