Share the Happiness of Celebrating Chinese New Year in Mandarin Classes
Posted by Yajuan ZhangIt is the fourth time that the whole school has celebrated the Chinese New Year on assembly day. During the preparation for the performance, I am still quite impressed with the students’ enthusiasm for their practice and for making the crafts. From PreK-4 through grade 6, each class has their own bit of the experience in learning the tradition, doing the crafts and practicing either a song or a chant for the celebration.
Of course, from all the photos above, I am sure you can feel the happiness and confidence of our students. Meanwhile, believe it or not, right now, every student of the Mandarin classes knows this year is the Chinese New Year of the Rooster. They will also tell you this year the Chinese New Year started on January 28th. Traditionally, Chinese people celebrate it for fifteen days. Nowadays, they still celebrate for at least eight days. So 鸡年快乐(ji nian kuai le) — Happy Chinese New Year of the Rooster, everybody!
