What are insects?
Posted by Fiona EckersleyThroughout April, our PreK-4 students have been busy learning how to be scientists by observing, hypothesizing, documenting and validating what grows outside of our classrooms. Specifically, our curious children have been investigating what insects are and hypothesizing if the two mystery guests we have growing in our classrooms could be insects. First, a visiting docent and guest bugs from the Audubon Society taught our little friends about the anatomy of insects. Next, our students explored and classified bugs found in the woods at the back of our school yard. They also kept track of the growing cycles of our two classroom mystery guests. To document their observations, our budding scientists had fun creating insects by using different mediums!
