What’s New at Farm Camp
Posted by Faith BarbutoThis summer our Farm Campers have been enjoying trips to the farm, gardening, cooking, yoga and working with younger campers! Some of of the older campers’ favorite activities have been harvesting broccoli, petting chickens and collecting fresh eggs at Sport Hill Farm in Easton. New this summer we have joined forces with a local community gardener and beekeeper who has several community gardens around Fairfield, all of which benefit Operation Hope. We visited a different garden each week and the kids enjoyed planting flowers and vegetables, learning about vermicomposting and dressing up as beekeepers! On our Sweet Pea buddy day we designed our own nature sun-catchers and practiced some partner poses in group yoga. The kids have been taking over the kitchen as well – with older campers making lunches like grilled chicken kale Caesar salad and veggie quesadillas. The Sweet Peas have enjoyed making snacks like pea hummus and pesto!
