Drop Everything and Read!
Posted by Karen EngelkeThere is something truly magical about a silent school! Right before Spring Break the Unquowa community participated in our very first schoolwide D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) event. For 45 minutes, the usual hustle and bustle was replaced by the quiet turning of pages as students and staff alike dove into their favorite books.
With March officially recognized as National Reading Month, this schoolwide session was the ultimate way to kick off our month-long celebration. Students settled happily into every corner of the campus, and many even brought favorite “stuffies” from home to snuggle with as they read, making the morning feel extra warm and comforting.
This peaceful morning of reflection provided a beautiful sense of community and served as the perfect lead-in to the high-energy excitement of our traditional Faculty vs. 8th Grade basketball game. It was a wonderful day of school spirit, and we are already looking forward to making D.E.A.R. a favorite Unquowa tradition!”
