Advisory Adventures
Posted by Lloyd MitchellSeventh grade has gotten off to a great start exploring various activities through advisory. Each day, Mrs. P. visits the seventh grade to start the morning with a brief TLS activity designed to help reduce stress and get our day started on the right foot. These activities incorporate some yoga which gets us moving. Additionally, we have been using our weekly advisory meetings to work on skills to be active listeners. We do this by working with Circles, a practice where one person speaks and a talking piece is passed around the circle, giving everyone a voice and encouraging active listening. In one of our early circles, we did an activity where one person was the listener and the other was the speaker. Many found it challenging to just sit and listen without responding. It was the beginning of being an active listener. We are enjoying connecting with our classmates through these various activities.
