All Aboard The Srta. DeAngelis Express!
Posted by Ms. DeAngelisAhoy, mateys! As we sail through our conquistador unit, the fifth graders set sail on the Srta DeAngelis Express. First, we chose our roles, and made sure we had everyone from a captain to a cooper to a barber, so that our ship could run smoothly. Then we had to decide if we wanted to buy citrus (to keep us from getting scurvy), lateen sails (to help us outrun pirates), or a compass (to help us stay on course if it gets cloudy). Then the world famous captain, Mateo El Guapo, led us on our adventure. We encountered pirates, bad winds, new species of dolphins, and all had to work together to make our journey a success. A mutiny led to Captain Mateo El Guapo walking the plank and getting replaced by Captain Maria de Piñata, but aside from that small hiccup, our journey was a success!
