Posted by Craig KnebelThe seventh grade has been studying the organelles of a cell in science class. They even learned a song about the organelles and sang it to tune of “The 12 Days of Christmas.” Just ask a seventh grader how we sing “Endoplasmic Reticulum.” Rather than a dreary test on the organelles, the students had to create a vivid model of the cell using a sugar cookie base for cytoplasm. Students also had to “adopt” an organelle and create a dance movement representing the organelle’s job inside the busy protein factory a cell represents. Together the students danced, as each organelle did its job in the cell.
