Building Houses!
Posted by Joey CaseyFourth grade started the year off spending a lot of time working with cardboard. We talked as a class about safe ways to cut cardboard and how to score cardboard to make it bendable. Students worked with Canary Knives, a tool that has a special double-sided serrated edge specifically designed to cut cardboard. Their latest project was to build a house! Before any cutting began, each student made a detailed drawing with measurements for each side of the house. This really helped them when they began the work of making their drawing a reality. Students were very creative and went into a wonderful amount of detail to create not only solid exteriors, but rooms within the house containing furniture and decorations all made of cardboard. After construction was complete, each house got a fresh coat of paint. Students felt very accomplished about their houses and were excited about the finished project.
