First Holiday Celebration – Happy Mid-Autumn Festival
Posted by Carina BlackwellAs we are celebrating the first Chinese holiday of the school year. Our Mandarin students engaged in a variety of festive activities. They colored traditional designs, made beautiful lanterns and sequenced story illustrations. We also enjoyed mochi treats in the classroom—for students with allergies, we substituted mochi for the traditional mooncakes.
Throughout the celebration, students learned the cultural significance of these traditional food and explored the folk tale and legends associated with the Mid-Autumn Festival. We feel very grateful to share authentic Chinese culture with our students and deepen their understanding of the traditions and stories that make this holiday meaningful.
