More Than Your Average Book Report
Posted by Trésor KayumbaUsing personally selected independent reading books, 5th grade scholars created art in response to their reading to share with folks the effects the book had on them as readers. As part of our active reading process, students had to think deeply and reflect upon their connection to text and characters in order to create art.
The book report was a two-part assignment. The first was to answer questions about their respective books and the second part was to create art. Art ranged from creating a diorama to represent an important or powerful scene in the novel to filming a short video telling what the book was about like a news broadcast or this movie trailer.
