A Quilt Made of Wood?
Posted by Carlene GordonIt may not sound cozy as fall approaches, but our third graders are hard at work in the new makerspace creating just that! Quilting is traditionally “joining together” various fabrics but instead, in this project, third graders are “joining together” their favorite early childhood story books. Incorporating math and problem solving skills into this literature based project, each student is creating an image made of equilateral triangles to showcase a favorite character or scene. Working with the seventh graders, our younger students recorded their voices reading a favorite passage which will be formatted onto a QR Code incorporated into each square. When completed, visitors will be able to enjoy our story quilt with both their eyes and ears!
Thank you, Mr. Bartels, for your guidance on this project!
